Missed Black Friday sales? Or are you still buried in a pile of newspaper advertisements in search of the perfect sale? Don't despair, retailers continue to offer exclusive discounts via email coupons and promotions. In fact, many retailers' only form of promotional advertising is accessible by email. According to CoolSavings, an online direct marketing company, 60% of shoppers will use online savings in stores, 34% of shoppers look for online promotional offers, and 31% of shoppers use email notifications to find store sales or special offers. However, email promotions' effectiveness largely depends on customers' request for information. Taking this into account, Kravco Company Malls seized the opportunity to pioneer a shopping email program that catered to this no-nonsense customer.
Kravco Company Malls have partnered with hundreds of retailers along the East Coast to launch REQUEST MAIL, a dynamic new email loyalty and savings program that offers consumers a choice on what stores they would like to receive email discounts from without the weariness of SPAM.
From Maine to Florida, the eleven regional Kravco Company Malls participating in REQUEST MAIL include: Bangor Mall (Bangor, ME); Burlington Town Center (Burlington, VT); Newburgh Mall (Newburgh, NY); King of Prussia Mall (King of Prussia, PA); Lehigh Valley Mall (Whitehall, PA); Montgomery Mall (North Wales, PA); Oxford Valley Mall (Langhorne, PA); Quaker Bridge Mall (Lawrenceville, NJ); Deptford Mall (Deptford, NJ); Hamilton Mall (Mays Landing, NJ) and The Galleria (Fort Lauderdale, FL).
The Association for Interactive Marketing states that 64% of surveyed marketers rely heavily on email marketing campaigns and has seen increased revenue as a result of email transactions. In addition, recent studies have shown that this form of consumer marketing produces more sales compared to campaigns without email strategies.
While economists report an increase in consumer confidence and holiday expenditures in 2003, retailers' personalized promotions, customer incentives and convenience remain paramount in driving holiday sales, especially during the next 23 days. Understanding this, Kravco Company Malls sought to give their customers and retailers a shopping advantage by developing REQUEST MAIL, a new innovative email campaign that tailors store discounts to customer requests.
"With today's strong reliance on email, REQUEST MAIL enables our customers to have a personalized shopping experience with Kravco Company Malls. It's keeping our retailers in direct communication with their best customers. REQUEST MAIL pairs the convenience of personalized emails with incredible merchant discounts and promotions," says Robert Hart, District Property Manager for Kravco Company. "To date we have over 10,000 Kravco Company mall customers with access to the Internet involved in the program with a year-end projection of over 130,000 shoppers," adds Hart.
Just in time for the holidays, customers who register on-line will never miss that perfect sale or promotion at their favorite mall store. "Convenience is key to shopping, especially holiday shopping," said Montgomery Mall shopper Vince Dell. "Receiving special email discounts from the stores I plan to buy gifts from are the only emails I want to receive."
It's simple, customers log onto their Kravco Mall's web site, fill out a profile, and list the stores from which they would like to receive news about sales and special offers. By signing-up, customers are also entered to win a $5,000 shopping spree. The personalization of the program protects customers from receiving unwarranted emails since customers' addresses are not sold or rented.
"Informing our customers on our latest in-store specials gives us a positive outlook for this holiday season. Since they selected us, we know they will appreciate hearing about our store's promotions," exclaims Shawn Mack, Store Manager of Bath & Body Works at Oxford Valley Mall.
It's by request, customers get only what they ask for via email from a list of their favorite stores. "REQUEST MAIL eases the holiday rush - giving shoppers what they've been asking for. In addition, the campaign gives our customers peace-of-mind about using email promotions. They sign-up in pure confidence, with no threat of their personal email addresses being given to any third party," says Debi Gilson, Marketing Manager of Oxford Valley Mall, in Langhorne, PA. The program is a perfect mechanism for customers to pre-plan their holiday shopping excursions.
It's a success, "REQUEST MAIL provides a convenient and valuable virtual shopping channel for customers to receive the best offers and plan their shopping excursion before they enter the mall," says Brenda Lounsberry, Marketing Manager of Deptford Mall in Deptford, New Jersey.
