SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 29, 1997--NetGravity, a leader in Internet advertising management software, today announced an agreement with Netscape Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:NSCP) to promote an advertising management software solution for Web sites.
Together, the companies plan to promote NetGravity AdServer software with the new Netscape Publishing System software version 1.6, announced separately last week. By using the NetGravity AdServer and Netscape Publishing System products together, Web sites will be able to achieve a high level of accuracy in ad targeting.
The combination of NetGravity AdServer and Netscape Publishing System enables Web publishers to effectively manage advertising and content on their Web sites. NetGravity AdServer gives sites the power to manage available ad inventory, dynamically target ads, and generate reliable ad performance reports.
"NetGravity AdServer is the product that has proven effective in managing advertising on the Netscape site," said Barbara Gore, publisher at Netscape. "NetGravity AdServer gives customers a powerful, reliable solution for managing advertising on a Web site."
In 1996, Netscape selected NetGravity AdServer to manage advertising on the Netscape Web site. The success of the Netscape site as an effective and reliable ad medium underscores the viability of Web advertising, and the reliability of the NetGravity AdServer system. NetGravity's software is scalable, accommodating the needs of a broad range of site sizes -- from the smallest Web publisher to the largest network of sites.
"NetGravity is excited to team with Netscape to offer Web publishers superior technology and revenue-generating solutions," said John Danner, president and CEO of NetGravity. "We look forward to this expansion of our relationship with Netscape."
Netscape Publishing System is a flexible, integrated high-end software solution for content providers who want to create full-scale online information services. New features in Netscape Publishing System 1.6 include public and private bulletin board software, enhanced searching capabilities and easier access to the product's open, extensible architecture for developers and independent software vendors such as NetGravity.
The Netscape Publishing System allows businesses and organizations to manage content and customers online. Netscape Publishing System includes integrated document management, user profiling for delivery of personalized information, a customizable billing model, access control, and an integrated credit card processing and billing system.
It can also create HTML pages dynamically based on user queries. Flexible user registration services allow publishers to tailor log-in templates to collect additional information about a customer. User profile information is stored in a relational database for use in matching content and advertising.
