RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 26, 1996--
Advertisements served on AudioNet can now be custom targeted
and delivered, based on the interests and needs of
individual Web site visitors
AudioNet, the largest audio site on the Internet, announced today it will begin using the newly upgraded AdManager 1.1 software from Accipiter to "dynamically" target ads based on the unique preferences of each individual site visitor. This high- traffic site delivers as many as 300,000 ads daily to visitors listening to live broadcasts of sports, music, political addresses, news and other audio events.
Accipiter's AdManager 1.1 allows both AudioNet and its advertising customers to do more than just improve the effectiveness of their ads. They can also gather up-to-the- minute demographic information on who is accessing the site, and what they do when they get there.
"We wanted to be able to tell our advertising customers more than that they're reaching a large number of people," says Robert Davidman, director of sales for AudioNet. "We wanted to tell them they are reaching large numbers of precisely the customers they want to target, and with the exact ads that are most appropriate to each visitor. AdManager allows us to take online advertising to the next level."
"AdManager's tracking and reporting features allow both our Webmaster and advertising customers to know how many people they're reaching on a daily basis, and exactly who they are," says Davidman.
"The ability to provide targeted advertising based on visitors' unique demographics provides the long-awaited missing link in Internet advertising," says Chris Evans, CEO and president of Accipiter, "because it allows companies to conduct one-to-one marketing and get real-time feedback that cannot be matched by other mediums.
"Traditional ad serving companies have had to target their ads based on environmental information, which is extrapolated from a visitor's domain, Internet location, or where they travel to within a site. But advertisers are demanding more sophisticated features that target specific ads to specific customers and markets. They often want to target based on specific factors such as gender, age and income."
"AdManager 1.1 from Accipiter provides the first demographic site profiles obtained directly from visitors during their visit," continues Evans. "As a result, we know precisely `who' the visitor is, as well as `where' he is."
AdManager 1.1 includes new features that address the inventory-related needs of advertisers and Web site publishers.
