Datanautics, a leading provider of analytic solutions that help companies effectively use the Internet to build long-term, multi-channel customer relationships, has appointed industry veteran Jim Harter as Vice President-Client Services. Harter has served in a variety of professional services and systems engineering management positions with leading Internet technology and enterprise application companies since the mid 1980s.
Prior to joining Datanautics, Harter was Vice President, Professional Services for venture-financed Covalent Technologies, a leader in Apache-based Web application management solutions, where he managed pre-sales engineering and post-sale customer operations.
Previously, he served as Vice President, Professional Services at Tumbleweed Communications (Nasdaq:TMWD), a leading supplier of secure messaging and e-mail policy management solutions. With responsibility for all post-customer sales operations, he grew Tumbleweed's Professional Services operations to a total staff of 50 in five North American locations.
Before Tumbleweed, Harter held executive positions at Broadvision (Nasdaq:BVSN), and Apple Computer (Nasdaq:AAPL).
Harter attended the University of Illinois. He is a resident of Dublin, California.

In December, the company announced that it had established two new European operations -- a Customer Technology Support Center in Cologne, Germany, and a European Research & Development Center (ERDC) in Stirling, Scotland.
