Macintosh internetworking vendor Cayman Systems Inc. of Cambridge, MA, has named a manufacturer's representative for Canada.
Argyle and Broadstreet (A&B) of Mississauga, Ont., specializes in Mac connectivity and communications products. It will help to increase sales and expand market opportunities for Cayman by supporting resellers, working with distributors and targeting corporate, government and education users.
Cayman had previously sold direct into Canada and through distributors, according to director of product marketing Cimarron Boozer. "The added service and support are important now," he said.
A&B will be representing Cayman's GatorBox CS application-level gateway that connects Mac networks to Ethernet, as well as related software. Boozer described its main competition as the FastPath product from Cambridge-based Shiva Corp.
GatorBox CS allows Mac users to communicate with most minicomputer, workstation and PC users - including Unix, DEC and Sun - on Ethernet twisted-pair networks. The gateway supports the AppleTalk networking protocol suite for Macintosh and TCP/IP.
GatorShare, a gateway application that runs on GatorBox, enables users to share files using their own computer's standard protocols.
