MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Steve Strauss, CEO of Chilmark Entertainment Group, Inc.(http://www.thechilmarkgroup.com/), announced today that US Patent Application Number 10-800379 has been received for the Chilmark Security LLC film piracy blocking devices. The law firm of Roberts, Abokhair & Mardula, who completed the intellectual property and patent work required, made the application in the name of Jerry Nieto (all patents are in individual names) and it is to be assigned to Chilmark Security, LLC upon issuance in accordance with documents signed by Mr. Nieto and Chilmark Entertainment Group, Inc.
The devices impede the functioning of digital and analogue cameras within a specified radius. The Paparazzi Blocker, a hand held unit (30 foot radius) and the Piracy Blocker, a stationary base unit (effective range of 250 to 300 feet and diluted range 500 feet) are uniquely capable of stopping digital piracy without violating film stock or the theatergoer's experience.
The image security devices will prevent the illicit recording of intellectual property and secure privacy for celebrities in both public and private settings. Uses include, but are not limited to, protecting the movie industry, recording artists and sports broadcasts from illegal recording and potential re-broadcast, securing public and private locker rooms, clubs, restaurants, and classified areas from illegal video or digital piracy.
Chilmark Security, LLC is currently in discussions with two motion picture studios to employ the blocking devices to protect pre-released movies from "camcording." Pirates use small hand-held video cameras or pinhole cameras to record motion picture films off theater screens and then copy these films onto blank videocassettes and optical discs for illegal distribution. The initial test will defend 300 screenings of one pre-release motion picture.
Strauss commented, "We are extremely pleased that this very important first step has been completed. Jerry Nieto and Guy Connor of our Chilmark Security LLC group are to be commended for the excellent, professional effort that they have made in bringing us to this stage in the development of these valuable devices and in arranging for their protection."
